I've sold some books. Yay me! Some of them have even been sold to people I don't know. I've had some good reviews and very positive feedback. So much so that I started to think I could make some money.
Truth is, though, that I never expected to sell my book. I wrote it because I had some stories in my head that I really wanted to make sure I could hold onto. Someone told me, "You should write those stories down."
I decided that was a great idea except the stories that I had in my head were not mine. They were stories that my grandmother told me about my grandparents lives before coming to Canada. My grandfather would not speak of the atrocities he had seen. My grandmother came clean with some family history after his passing. As an immigrant whose broken English left much to the imagination, I quickly realized that the pieces of stories she told would not make a very extensive true story.
It took me a few years to make it come alive but I managed to save the unbelievably true stories that made up my family history. Stories about bombed trains, not existing in any government records, jail time, and even an escape over the mountains into Egypt. The stories that my grandmother told me have been wound into a fast-paced, adventure, complete with spies, villains, world travel and adrenaline.Every time I struggle with marketing this book I have to rewind my thoughts. I have to think back to why I wrote a book in the first place. This blog is about why I wrote in the first place - to share a story.
That is exactly what I plan to do here. Although, the book is published and available on Amazon, I am about to make the book available chapter by chapter as posts in this blog. I hope that you will enjoy the first in the new Colt Wilder Adventure series - SCARAB
